Settings Adjustment Utility

Please find the latest settings adjustment utility we have created here: /20241004_amedtec_settings_adjuster_tool.exe

This tool is not perfect and comes without warranty! It is, however, helpful to apply the best starting defaults (in our opinion from years of experience) for the use of the Amedtec ECGpro in Australia. A few important things to note:

- Any settings that are part of this tool will be overwritten with new values from the tool.

- The clinic details entry in the tool currently has an issue where some special characters like slashes (*, &, / or \) are not escaped properly which can result in the tool failing to apply some or all of the settings; avoid using the clinic details setting component if you are in doubt as this can be set up in the Amedtec ECGpro settings anytime you like at a later date.

If you run this, as an Administrator immediately after a fresh installation of ECGpro on a workstation, many of the important defaults such as lead labelling, ECG speed, print layouts, etc will be applied to each new Windows user when they open ECGpro for the first time in their Windows profile. Otherwise, you can run this as any user at any time (even for a standard Windows user) and the settings should apply just fine also for that user.

Admins, if you need to script these defaults on login of a Windows user, you can extract the PCSettingsCustom.cnf from the following zip file: /20241004_pcsettingscustom.zip

To apply this PCSettingsCustom.cnf configuration file on a 64-bit PC, you can use the following example batch file line for guideance:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\AMEDTEC ECGpro\s05Main.exe" -importsettings PCSettingsCustom.cnf

Note that you must ensure the ECGpro SQL Server instance running before you can apply these settings. If the SQL instance is on a local computer, this service is typically named "SQL Server (AMEDTEC)". Also, the PCSettingsCustom.cnf defaults to muscle and power filters on for use in Australia, and doesn't ask you to set the clinic details, whereas the settings adjuster tool gives you the choice relating to these adjustments.

Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue P Bluetooth ECG Manual Pairing

There are some cases where it may be necessary to manually pair with the Amedtec Bluetooth ECG (if your device does not appear in ECGpro using the standard pairing procedure shown above). If this is the case, the following steps may be useful.

Windows 11 manual pairing:

1. Open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices

2. Turn on the Bluetooth toggle switch if it is turned off

3. Turn on your Amedtec Bluetooth ECG (one push of the round circle button on the device - the green light next to the button will illuminate)
Note: For newer Amedtec Bluetooth ECG devices purchased from December 2025 onwards, when turning the device on you will need to hold down the round circle button for at least 3 seconds until the pairing light blinks

4. Click Add device

5. An item should appear in the list named CardioPart 12 Blue (A22xxxxxxxx) then click Connect
Note: If no device appears in the list, you may see a Show all devices option; click on this.

6. Enter the PIN number for the device and click Connect. The PIN should be the same on every Amedtec Bluetooth ECG device.
Pairing pin number: 08280

7. Ensure the device now appears in the Other devices list

8. Now follow the section above titled “Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue P Bluetooth ECG Pairing” to make the device available in ECGpro.

On some older Windows 11 PCs with built-in Bluetooth: The CardioPart 12 Blue may not be detected when you search for Bluetooth devices. Open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices then set the option Bluetooth devices discovery to Advanced then try scanning for Bluetooth devices again.

Important: the maximum number of PC pairing is 16 for every CardioPart 12 Blue. This pairing list can be reset. Devices up to S/N A1308070602 need to be sent in to AMEDTEC for clearing. For devices with S/N A1308070603 and later, the pairings can be reset by yourself:

How to reset the pairing list on the device (S/N A1308070603 and later):

1. Switch on the CardioPart 12 Blue device

2. Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the Battery and Online LEDs are illuminated, then release the power button

3. Wait for about 1 second

4. Press and hold the power button again > both LEDs start flashing > keep the button pressed until the LEDs have stopped flashing - only then release the button

5. The device’s pairing list has been erased, and the device can be paired again another 16 times

There are a few important notes in relation to the Logilink Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adaptor that comes in the box with the Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue-P Bluetooth ECG. These points are as follows:

1. Do not install the custom drivers for the Logilink Bluetooth Adaptor. The generic Bluetooth drivers/stack provided by Windows and Windows Update on Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems will work with ECGpro. The custom driver will not allow the device to be added in ECGpro. Simply plug and play then follow the guide titled Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue-P Bluetooth ECG - Pairing

If you installed the drivers from the Logilink website, take the following steps:

1. Uninstall the item named CSR Harmony Bluetooth Stack from Add/Remove Programs

2. Using Device Manager, right click on the CSR Bluetooth device (under the Bluetooth node, if it exists) and choose uninstall - ensure you tick the box to remove the driver software from your computer

3. Still in Device Manager, scan for hardware changes in your PC - keep removing the driver in device manager as per step 2 until you have the default Microsoft drivers (not the CSR driver). If you see a device named CSR_BTPORT_01 appear in Unknown Devices instead of the generic Bluetooth drivers in the screenshot below, the CSR Bluetooth device may not be uninstalled properly. Please call LEMR Support.

The end result should look like this in device manager:

Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerators

Now you should be able to pair the Amedtec ECG with your computer!

2. If you already have a Bluetooth adaptor in your PC, use that first. DO NOT connect any other Bluetooth dongle to the PC, even the Logilink Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adaptor provided with Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue-P Bluetooth ECG. Bluetooth will likely fail to operate if you have more than one Bluetooth adaptor on your PC.

3. Don't use the Windows pairing process as the first option. Try though ECGpro first using the guide at Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue-P Bluetooth ECG - Pairing. If that fails, then try the guide at Amedtec CardioPart 12 Blue-P Bluetooth ECG - Manual Pairing.

Amedtec USB ECG Device - The driver has been blocked

If you are unable to use your Amedtec ECG device and receive a message about a driver being blocked, this article will help solve the issue.

Windows Security block dialog shown when a driver is blocked

Example of a driver blocked message in Windows 11

The actual message will say the following:

This driver has been blocked

vb05usb.sys does not pass the Windows Driver policy.

You may also see the following message appear on the screen:

\SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\vb05usb.sys failed to load

If you check in device manager, you will see the CardioPart 12 USB device listed with an exclamation mark on it as per the following screenshot. If you go to properties, you will see the message as follows:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

An Application Control policy has blocked this file.

You can also see more information about this in the event viewer as follows:

Once you have confirmed that the above is the issue, you can download and install this new USB driver to solve the problem. The driver was released on 8/6/2026, though will be included with newer versions of Amedtec ECGpro in the future (version 5.60 onwards).

AMEDTEC ECGpro SQL instance not running or login window appears for no apparent reason

When AMEDTEC ECGpro is installed, the Windows service SQL Server (AMEDTEC) needs to start for the patient database to operate. When this service has failed to start, a database login prompt will be shown when AMEDTEC ECGpro is started. If one attempts to login to the database, the login will fail as the database is not running.

Amedtec ECGpro Database Login Prompt

Please see this article for assistance on this issue: https://wiki.lemr.com/en/support/technical-support/amedtec-sql-instance-troubleshooting-slow-startup

AMEDTEC ECGpro “This login does not have sufficient permissions for this database mode” error during upgrade of ECGpro database

This can happen if the SQL instance was installed under a different Windows user account and the current Windows user is not an admin in the AMEDTEC ECGpro SQL instance on the local computer.

AMEDTEC ECGpro
This login does not have sufficient permissions for this database mode.

In short, you will likely need to get backdoor access to the SQL instance to regain control. This is something best done by LEMR support, though a summary of the steps are as follows:

1. Download and install the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) software. If you already have a version installed on the system, you can use that as long as it supports the SQL instance you need to connect to. More information and download links are available from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/ssms/install/install

For a no fuss installation on a system without SSMS, I recommend an older fixed version installer such as the following: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2257624&clcid=0x409

19.3 19.3.4.0 January 10, 2024

2. Download a copy of PSEXEC (32 bit version will do) from https://live.sysinternals.com/ or more specifically https://live.sysinternals.com/PsExec.exe

3. Use PSExec to launch SSMS as the local system account interactively. Example command in Windows Terminal or Command Prompt would be as follows:

PsExec -s -i "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 19\Common7\IDE\Ssms.exe"

Then add the current user/admin account you are running the installer as, with a SysAdmin role to the instance. Then you should be able to complete the update.
