This guide provides a step-by-step procedure for performing a Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) test using QRS Diagnostic / Vectracor Office Medic with LEMR integration to Zedmed Clinical. Office Medic is compatible with the QRS Diagnostic and Vectracor Orbit Spirometry devices.
The instructions below are designed for LEMR version 2023.10.9.1642 and later. If instructions for earlier versions are required, please contact LEMR Support.
1. Open the patient’s file in Zedmed Clinical.
2. Make sure your Spirometer device is plugged in to your computer.
3. Click on the LEMR icon with the patient's name next to it.
4. Click on Spirometry.
5. Choose a specific LEMR Client computer to start the test on.
6. While the test is in progress, a window will be displayed over Zedmed. LEMR Client will pop up over the top.
7. LEMR Client will pop up asking to start a test – select Office Medic to start the test.
Note: If LEMR Client does not appear, click on the LEMR Client icon at the bottom of the screen or open LEMR Client from the desktop icon.
Then click on Sync Now at the lower left side of the LEMR Client window.
8. Click on Pre FVC to start a pre test for Forced Vital Capacity.
9. Enter the mouthpiece number and click OK. The Spirometer will now zero then the patient can blow into the mouthpiece when ready. The test will end when the air flow stops.
The National Asthma Council has a great video to demonstrate how a patient performs a Spirometry test here.
10. Repeat the Pre FVC test 2 more times (or until repeatability criteria is met).
Once you have completed at least 3 tests and met the repeatability criteria, the following message will be displayed:
If the repeatability criteria is not met after 3 tests, continue to perform more tests until the repeatability criteria is met.
If you need to finish the study now, follow the steps to Finish Study then LEMR will upload the report as it is now to Zedmed.
This could be for pre-employment medicals, to do other things in Zedmed or test another patient while waiting for the bronchodilator to work, etc.Later, during the same day, you can resume a Spirometry session to add more tests (such as post tests).
To do this, simply start another Spirometry test from Zedmed on the same computer you had used earlier. LEMR Client will then offer to resume the study then go to Post Test.
11. Click on Post FVC to start a post test for Forced Vital Capacity. Perform the post tests in the same manner as the pre tests.
Repeat until 3 tests are complete (or until repeatability criteria is met).
12. Click on the End Session button when you have finished.
On older versions of Office Medic, this will be an OK button.
13. When the LEMR Client window pops up, the test should be made ready for Zedmed to collect - the test icon will go from an uploading icon to a circled tick.
14. LEMR Server will detect the finished test and automatically import it into Zedmed. The imported test will be stored in Images/ECG. Click OK.
