This guide provides a step-by-step procedure for performing an ABI test using Huntleigh DR4 with LEMR integration to Best Practice (Bp Premier). DR4 is only compatible with the Huntleigh Dopplex ABIlity device.
The instructions below are designed for LEMR version 2023.10.9.1642 and later. If instructions for earlier versions are required, please contact LEMR Support.
1. Open the patient’s file in Best Practice (Bp Premier).
2. Make sure the patient’s height and weight information is up to date.
3. Go to the Utilities menu and select Blood Pressure.
4. Choose a specific LEMR Client computer to start the test on.
5. While the test is in progress, a window will be displayed over Best Practice. LEMR Client will pop up over the top.
6. LEMR Client should then ask if you would like to start the scheduled test. Choose Huntleigh DR4.
Note: If LEMR Client does not appear, click on the LEMR Client icon at the bottom of the screen or open LEMR Client from the desktop icon.
Then click on Sync Now at the lower left side of the LEMR Client window.
7. On-screen instructions to connect your Huntleigh Dopplex ABIlity device to your computer will appear on the screen. Follow these on-screen instructions.
IMPORTANT: When you power on your Huntleigh device, you must ensure that the date and time is set correctly on the device!
Failure to do so will affect the date/time stamp on the report.
8. After pressing the play button, the window should change to the following screen. Wait until the green bar at the bottom of this window progresses.
If the above window does not appear, the DR4 software has not properly detected the ABIlity device. Here are a few reasons why this could happen:
The USB cable for the device is not connected or is damaged
Other devices connected to the computer provide virtual COM ports that DR4 had thought was the actual ABIlity device though it wasn't
Driver problems
Steps to try to solve the problem (in order of operation):
First stop the test, close DR4 and return to Best Practice, closing the waiting to import test window
Disconnect the power from your ABIlity device
Close LEMR Client - right click on the icon in the task bar near the date/time and choose Quit
Open your Documents folder, then open the DR4Data folder and rename the reporter.ini file to zzzreporter.ini
Disable Bluetooth if it is enabled, as this can cause many virtual COM ports to appear in Device Manager which can cause issues with DR4 (normally having Bluetooth on is perfectly fine)
Open LEMR Client again (click on the Start menu and type LEMR, then click on the LEMR Client app)
Reconnect power to the device and check the USB cable connection in the back of the ABIlity and in the computer is firmly plugged in
Try the test procedure again from the start of this document

9. When the test is complete, the PDF report will then automatically export. Please wait for the process to complete on its own.
10. When the LEMR Client window pops up, the test should be made ready for Best Practice to collect - the test icon will go from an uploading icon to a circled tick.
11. LEMR Server will detect the finished test and automatically import it into Best Practice. The imported test will be stored in Clinical Images. Click OK.
